Yesterday, I learned about Giorgio Morandi, an Italian painter. I looked at his painting called "Still Life." I think it was odd that he used soft and light colors when WWII was going on. Giorgio Morandi had joined the army when he was young and had a breakdown when he was in the army. It makes you wonder if he painted with those colors to calm himself down during WWII. I found the painting by visiting the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden online.
The painting was made in 1943. I learned that "Ape Man" and "The Human Comedy" movies came out during this time. I learned that the whole world was at war. Italy was at first neutral in WWII. Then Italy saw an advantage joining the war because Italy wanted more land that was in North Africa.
I think I had a good first day. I learned a lot.
